Jan Samachar is a online newspaper in english and hindi devoted to create awareness among the people about Cyber World and Development. Its main objective is to bridge the gap between urban-rural populations of the country. Based in New Delhi, Jan Samachar is in the process of supplementing it by a string of bureaus in all the State capitals. Jan Samachar, A forum synergising individuals and organizations involved in overall Information & Communication System for Development are :

  • To evolve strategies and develop appropriate technologies for intensification and diversification for creative, journalistic, cyber and associated activities.
  • To undertake research projects and initiate measures and programmes to enhance information & communication activity for overall rural development.
  • To facilitate and promote co-ordination and dissemination of rural technologies through network approach with Art & Craft, IT, Health, Developments Programmes, Education and Communication involving Public Sector Institutions, Rural Organizations and Institutions and other agencies.
  • To act as a center for vocational as well as advanced computer training to promote rural craft & agriculture production technologies.
  • To establish a network of "Cyber Hut" in far-reaching areas.
  • To promote transfer of technology on field crops, horticultural and vegetable crops, agro forestry and other livestock and poultry.
  • To institute awards for professional groups and individuals for excellence in the field of agrology, rural development and traditional art & craft.
  • To improve existing organisations/ societies presently engaged in the rural connectivity program and thereby utilise existing information set-ups.
  • To maximise the ‘farm gate’ return to the farmer by reducing information asymmetry and exploitation in this sector.
  • To bridge the information gap on the government policies, welfare schemes by disseminating the information to the rural masses, thereby making them aware of their rights and benefits.
  • To provide Market Research, Feature, Articles, Information, Events information and News about Fruit & Vegetable, Animal Products, Processed Fruits & Vegetables, Cereals, Commodity, Grain-Market, Dairy, Poultry etc.
  • To Provides craft, agriculture & horticulture awareness programme for better market through The Cyber Gramin Training Centre.
  • To act as a national nodal information service for development and promotion of appropriate rural technologies.
  • To promote and support voluntary action and people’s participation for rural development, through capacity building for voluntary organizations and rural communities.
  • To build and expanded awareness on critical social & development issues.
  • To build and strengthen village-level people and organizations.
  • To strengthen the capacities of voluntary organizations in rural areas.
  • To make efforts for creating employment and business opportunities and economic self-reliance.
  • To help conservation and regeneration of the environment and natural resources.
  • To serve as a major resource Centre for the arts, especially primary material, written, oral, audio-visual, pictorial etc.
  • To undertake research and publication programmes of reference works, glossaries, dictionaries etc.
  • To establish a Tribal, Folk art and Terracotta Museum with a view to undertake scientific systematic studies,
  • To provide a forum for creative and critical dialogue through performances, exhibitions multi-media projections, video films, conferences, seminars, workshops between and amongst the diverse arts ranging from architecture and literature to music, sculpture, painting, photography, films, pottery, puppetry, weaving and embroidery. In keeping with the Indian viewpoint, No artificial distinctions will be made between arts and crafts, nor will aggregative approach be followed;
  • To remind the nation "Rural India is the Real India" and for this purpose to establish a online newspaper ‘Jan Samachar’ devoted to rural issues, art, craft, science, cyber, technology etc. for print and electronic media and other Government and private organisations.
